As a musician and performer, Dan Gerken has filled many roles over the years. As bassist, vocalist and guitar player for the Albany, NY based band Timbre Coup since 2007 Dan has played many stages across the US and shared the stage with many great performers.
As a graduate of the Saint Rose music industry program, Dan has many years of formal instruction in upright bass, keyboard, vocals, studio production and other facets including jazz arranging and music theory analysis. As a kid Dan started playing bass and keyboards around ten years old and never looked back. Growing up in a musical family of singers, writers and keyboard players there was always music to be played or listened to. Also the insights from Dans father, a professional musician who toured out of Nashville for about twenty years throughout the 80s and 90s were important in building good practice habits and acute musical understanding of many styles and genres.
As a teacher, Dan’s goal is to spark a love for music no matter the medium. “Musical training helped me in so many ways and I can’t wait to help students acquire the love of music that could lead to many great things” - Dan
